Working process of water softener

1) Normally there are 4 process: work (sometimes called filter), backwash, salt auction (regeneration), and flush. All working process of different water softener are very close, but based on varied actual technique or control demand, probably will be some additional process.

 

2) Backwash: After working for a period of time, the containerised water softener will intercept a lot of dirt brought by the raw water at the top of the resin. After the dirt is removed, the ion exchange resin can be completely exposed to guarante softening. The backwash process is that water washes in from the bottom of the resin and flows out from the top, so that the dirt intercepted by the top can be washed away. This process generally takes about 5-15 minutes. 

 

3) Salt auction (regeneration): can be regarded as the process of injecting brine into the filter. The traditional way uses the pump to inject the brine, while the fully automatic containerised water softener uses a dedicated built-in ejector for salt auction (as long as the inlet water has a certain pressure) . In the actual working process, the regeneration effect of brine flowing through the resin at a slower speed is better than that of simply soaking the resin with salt water. Therefore, the containerised water softener is regenerated by the method of slowly flowing salt water through the resin. This process generally requires about 30 minutes, the actual time is affected by the amount of salt used.

 

4) Flush: In order to thoroughly flush the remaining salt, the resin should be flushed with raw water at a flow rate close to the actual work. The final product water of this process shall be soft water meet the standard, normally takes about 5-15 minutes.

 

Effects of water softener

1) By using containerised water softener can help to save a lot of wasted fuel.

When the boiler is scaled, 1mm of scale will form for a boiler with a working pressure of 1.4MPa, which will waste 8% of fuel.

 

2) By using containerised water softener can help improve the thermal efficiency

When the boiler evaporation surface has scale, the heat on the fire side cannot be quickly transferred to the water side, which will reduce the output of the boiler. If the boiler scales due to improper water treatment, the boiler's evaporation capacity is reduced by one-third, and the automatic operation line cannot be started due to insufficient gas supply.

 

3) By using containerised water softener can help reduce boiler maintenance

It is very difficult to remove scale on boiler plates or pipes, especially due to boiler leakage, cracks, breakage, deformation, corrosion and other diseases caused by scale. It not only damages the boiler, but also consumes a lot of manpower and material resources to overhaul, which not only shortens the running time, but also increases the maintenance cost.

 

4)  By using containerised water softener can help reduce safety risks

Boiler accidents caused by scale account for more than 20% of the total number of boiler accidents, not only causing equipment losses, but also threatening personal safety. The infrastructure and operating costs of water treatment account for a quarter of the savings.
