Some tips about the Replacement of Filter media

1. Before replacing the quartz sand and activated carbon, should prepare the hose clamp, sand suction pipe and plastic tape first.

2. Before the replacement, should check if there are any undetected damaged parts in the system. If yes please record the running parameter, especially the inlet water pressure.

3. If there is a RO skid, should stop the high pressure pump first, then stop feed water pump, at last turn off the inlet water valve of feed water pump.

4. Replace the activated carbon before quartz sand, because the newly installed activated carbon should be soaked in water to make it fully moistened to eliminate the air between and inside the carbon particles, so that the carbon particles do not float on water which can save time.

5. The loading volume of activated carbon is about 60% of the total volume of the carbon filter tank to leave space for backwash. After the activated carbon is loaded, pour the water into the carbon filter to completely soak the activated carbon in the water.

6. Before replacing the quartz sand, should pour a small amount of water in the sand filter. The filling sequence should be larger sand in the lower and smaller sand in the upper. The quartz sand filling volume should be about 80% of the sand tank filling volume.

7. After filling the quartz sand, restart the system to wash the quartz sand. Before that, please ensure that the valve is properly opened, that is to close the intake valve and the upper exhaust valve and the activated carbon intake valve. Then turn on the feed water pump to wash and backwash until the outlet water from waste water valve become clean.

8. After making sure that the quartz sand has been washed clearly, clean the activated carbon by open water pump to wash and backwash until the outlet water clear and colorless. Fine particles cannot be used, close the inlet water valve of water softener when clean the activated carbon.
