The service life of EDI membrane module is limited, normally 3-5 years whether western or Chinese brand.

During the actual operation of EDI ultrapure water equipment, several causes will lead to the failure of EDI module.

EDI ultrapure water equipment product water capacity does not meet design value

1) The residual chlorine in the feed water exceeds the standard, causing the EDI resin performance be affected so the channel be blocked, then lead to the deduction on the product water capacity.

2) The membrane module has not been maintained under proper process.

3) Lack of feed water which cause the dry burning and deformation of the EDI module.

The operation voltage in EDI ultrapure water equipment is abnormally high

1) The scale be formed inside the EDI module, then the operation voltage increase while the product water capacity and quality decrease.

2) Water hammer phenomenon occurs in the operation of equipment, which leads to uneven distribution of resin inside EDI.

EDI ultrapure water equipment product water quality does not meet design value

1) The feed water conductivity is too high and beyond the deign value.

2) The feed water pH value if not within the proper range, too high or too low will affect the normal operation of EDI ultrapure water equipment

3) The current during EDI ultrapure water equipment is too low or too high

Precautions during operation of EDI ultrapure water equipment

1) Timely check and record the feed water quality to avoid the dramatic feed water quality change, if there is change, then corresponding treatment process shall be designed to ensure normal operation of system.

2) Timely monitor the residual chlorine in the feed water, if too high then need to replace active carbon in pretreatment part to avoid the damage of EDI module.

3) The pH value of feed water better keep neutral around 7.

4) Regularly clean the EDI module to ensure the operation performance of equipment.
