Reverse osmosis membrane system Shortened service life Reasons
1) Improper operation of reverse osmosis membrane system can causes damage to membrane performance
There is residual gas in the reverse osmosis membrane system operating under high pressure, and the formation of air hammer will damage the reverse osmosis membrane.
- After the system is emptied, when it is restarted, the gas will be quickly boosted before the gas is exhausted. The remaining air should be exhausted at a pressure of 2 to 4 bar, and then the pressure should be gradually increased for operation.
- When the joint between the pretreatment equipment and the high-pressure pump is not well sealed or leaks water (especially the microfilter and the subsequent pipeline leaks), when the pretreatment water supply is not sufficient, if the microfilter is blocked, if the seal is not good Good places will suck in some air due to vacuum. The microfilter should be cleaned or replaced to ensure that the pipeline does not leak. In short, the pressure should be increased gradually when there are no air bubbles in the flow meter, and the air bubbles should be gradually lowered to check the cause during operation.
2) The method of shutting down the reverse osmosis membrane system is incorrect
- The rapid depressurization did not perform a thorough flushing when the machine was turned off. Because the concentration of inorganic salts on the concentrated water side of the membrane is higher than that of the raw water, it is easy to scale and pollute the membrane.
- Rinse with pretreated water added with chemical reagents. Membrane fouling may be caused by water containing chemical reagents during equipment shutdown.
When the reverse osmosis membrane system is about to be shut down, it should stop adding chemical reagents, gradually reduce the pressure to about 3bar and rinse with pretreated water for 10 minutes until the TDS of the concentrated water is very close to that of the raw water.
3) Ineffective disinfection and maintenance of reverse osmosis equipment lead to microbial contamination
This is a common problem in the use of composite polyamide membranes, because polyamide membranes have poor residual chlorine resistance, chlorine and other disinfectants are not added correctly during use, and users do not pay enough attention to the prevention of microorganisms, which can easily lead to microbial contamination. At present, the pure water microorganisms produced by many manufacturers exceed the standard, which is caused by poor disinfection and maintenance.
The main manifestations are: when leaving the factory, the RO membrane system was not maintained with disinfectant; after the equipment was installed, the entire pipeline and pretreatment equipment were not disinfected; disinfection and maintenance measures were not taken for intermittent operation; regular pretreatment equipment and reverse osmosis equipment were not disinfected ; The maintenance solution is invalid or the concentration is not enough.
4) Poor monitoring of residual chlorine in reverse osmosis membrane system
- If the dosing pump fails or the liquid medicine fails, or the membrane is damaged by residual chlorine when the activated carbon is saturated.
- During the use of equipment, in addition to the normal attenuation of performance, the attenuation of equipment performance due to pollution is more serious. The usual pollution mainly includes chemical scale, organic matter and colloid pollution, microbial pollution and so on. Different pollution shows different symptoms. There are also certain differences in the symptoms of membrane fouling proposed by different membrane companies.
