How to remove fluoride by reverse osmosis plant

Due to natural causes and the increase in fluorine industrial production, the fluorine content of groundwater in some areas exceeds the standard, causing harm to people's health. Long-term drinking water with high fluorine content can cause chronic poisoning, especially serious harm to teeth and bones.

At present, the main methods for treating fluoride ions in water include precipitation, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, etc. The reverse osmosis plant method has advantages in terms of fluorine removal efficiency and easy process operation.

The reverse osmosis plant process is mainly a treatment process in which the natural osmotic pressure is changed by the pressure higher than the osmotic pressure to press the solvent (water) in the concentrated liquid to one side of the semi-permeable membrane. The reverse osmosis membrane uses inorganic ions of 1 nm or more as the main separation object. The applied pressure is exactly opposite to the osmotic pressure, and exceeds the osmotic pressure, which causes the water in the concentrated solution to reversely permeate to the side of the dilute solution, because the effective treatment range of the reverse osmosis membrane is above 0.1nm, and the F-ion. The diameter is 0.266nm, so reverse osmosis pressure can effectively remove fluoride ions from the solution.

Because most of the fluoride ions in groundwater come from the erosion and dissolution of surrounding rocks, and the water also contains a large number of soluble ions, the influence of other molecules on the fluoride removal effect must be considered when removing fluoride. When the salt content exceeds 5g/L, the removal rate is significantly reduced, and when the salt content exceeds 10g/L, the removal rate is only 82%. Therefore, the removal rate of fluoride removal by reverse osmosis equipment for groundwater with excessive salt content is not too high. However, compared with other methods, reverse osmosis is simple to operate and has a good treatment effect.

The method to improve the efficiency of reverse osmosis removal of fluoride: add triethanolamine to the raw water that needs to be removed, and then pass through the reverse osmosis membrane to remove fluoride ions, and the removal rate can reach more than 99%.
