How to determine if EDI water treatment system be polluted The working principle of EDI water treatment system: EDI is a kind of pure water production technology that combines ion exchange technology and ion electromigration technology (electrodialysis technology). This technology uses ion exchange energy to deeply desalt to overcome electrodialysis polarization and incomplete desalination, and uses electrodialysis polarization to cause water ionization and produce H+ and OH-. These ions continuously regenerate the ion exchange resin to make the ion exchange resin keep at the best status. Although the strict feed water condition of EDI water treatment system greatly reduce the possibility of lockage inside the EDI module, with the long-term operation the inside of EDI module still be possible to be blocked. This mainly because that EDI feed water has solutes which may form desalted precipitation in the concentrated water part. If EDI feed water hardness over 0.8ppm will accelerate the precipitation rate. In this case, we can clean the EDI module by chemical cleaning to restore its original technical status. Normally can evaluate if EDI module is contaminated by below aspects: 1) Under the condition that feed water temperature and flow rate remain unchanged, the pressure difference between the concentrated water inlet side and the outlet side increase 45% higher than the raw data. 2) Under the condition that feed water temperature, flow rate and conductivity remain unchanged, the quality of product water drops obviously. 3) Under the condition that feed water temperature, flow rate remain unchanged, the quantity of concentrated water decrease 35% Main reasons cause the blockage of EDI module: 1) Particle/colloid fouling 2) Inorganic matter fouling 3) Organic matter fouling 4) Microbial fouling Cleaning notice of EDI water treatment system: Before cleaning or disinfecting please select appropriate chemicals and be familiar with safe operation rules, do not perform chemical cleaning when the power of the components is not cut off.
